The leading Senate Democrat lied viciously against Tulsi Gabbard.

At around noontime on February 12th, Donald Trump’s nomination of Tulsi Gabbard to be the Director of National Intelligence (“DNI”) — the person to write and present, to the U.S. President, the President’s Daily Brief (PDB) on Intelligence — became voted on by the U.S. Senate. The PDB is produced by the “ODNI” or Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and summarizes the findings from the 17 U.S. intelligence agencies or “Intelligence Community” during the prior 24 hours; and, thus, the DNI, who runs the the ODNI, is the President’s eyes and ears throughout the world during the prior day. So, this might be the most important post in a U.S. President’s Administration.
At 12:36 noon Eastern time (5:36 PM UTC), the AP headlined “Live updates: Senate confirms Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence”, and reported:
The Senate has confirmed former Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard as President Donald Trump‘s director of national intelligence by a 52-48 vote after Republicans who had initially questioned her experience and judgment fell in line behind her nomination. The only “no” vote from a Republican came from former Senate leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
The unconventional pick to oversee and coordinate the country’s 18 different intelligence agencies has previously given sympathetic comments to Russia, met with now-deposed Syrian President Bashar Assad and previously supported government leaker Edward Snowden.
Earlier that morning, Chuck Schumer, the leading Democratic Senator, opened the proceedings by making a final appeal to Republicans (other than the most neocon or pro-imperialist of them all, the Senate’s leading Republican, Mitch McConnell, who had already gone public saying that he would join with the Democrats voting against her) hoping to win two of them to defeat the nomination.

MY COMMENTS:
Since Forbes has an overwhelmingly Republican audience, I tried to find public comments that were at a pro-Democratic-Party site, and this was harder to do; so I settled for linking now to Senator Schumer’s own x.com page, and what I found there is mostly reader-comments that are hostile to him and to his anti-Gabbard statements.
However, regarding Schumer’s statement at 1:22 that “my guess is if a secret ballot were cast on Tulsi Gabbard, maybe she’d get 10 votes,” it’s probably even less than that, because all of the Senate’s Republicans except for Rand Paul and Mike Lee, are — like all of the Senate’s Democrats — rabid neocons (servants to the billionaires who control corporations such as Lockheed Martin). Almost all of those 52 Republican-Senator votes would have been against Gabbard if she were being appointed by a Democratic President. The Senators in both Parties vote the way that their megadonors want them to vote —NOT the way that their voters want them to vote.
