The DC Swamp has been corrupt since the end of the Civil War. It's just on a much bigger scale today. There is such a point where you "corrupt" yourself right out of existence. Are we there yet?
The more fascist the corporation, the bigger they are, the more distant from the little customer. The CEOs get richer as the robots take over. The gov is lost in doubt about its purpose. Humanity is being sabotaged--customers, employees, citizens by greed, speed and madness and sent on a yellow submarine far away from its higher Self into a fantasy psyop. This is everywhere. Not just in the US.
Good read, Eric. Know the feeling. I think Microsoft is the biggest rip off going anymore. I used to have Microsoft 365 which had Word, Excel etc. on my computer.
Then for some reason my computer went down once and when I tried to update it they started charging me for it on yearly basis and they wouldn't update it for free even though I originally had it. Then this year they jacked the price up by about 40% for supposedly added features. "BS"! Their Outlook mail which basically took over my old Hotmail sucks. I get an average of 20 junk emails a day even when I report them. Never had that problem several years ago. If I didn't need Word for my Substack and website, I'd tell Microsoft where they can stick their added features!! Linking your piece tomorrow @https://nothingnewunderthesun2016.com/
Thanks for here reporting your incident. I note that you say "If I didn't need Word for my Substack and website, I'd tell Microsoft where they can stick their added features!!" You DON'T need Word, and I almost never use Word: I write all of my articles in Apple Pages. However sometimes I write it in the Apple Mail program, because for certain types of articles that makes it easier. The only times when I am required to produce in Microsoft Word I do that by creating in Pages and then pasting it into a blank Word. Furthermore, everyone who has a PC will benefit from replacing it with a Mac (Apple computer), because Apple provides free help with it over the phone, so that the experience is enormously better using a Mac than using a PC and in an apples-to-apples comparison, a Mac is therefore far less costly per year to use than is any PC. Microsoft should no longer have a consumer market, only markets (if any) to corrupt Governments such as ours.
I predominantly use it for the Paintshop feature to make and copy images and use Word for saving some of the JPG images to upload., not necessarily for writing. It's just the idea that you have to pay a yearly charge to use software that you once owned that gripes me. Thanks for the suggestions.
A long time ago, Skype was free, and I used it to call overseas family and friends. They started 'upgrading' frequently and that is where I stopped. Changing credit cards is indeed the only solution at times, and I have done that too. Tracfone used to be easy, and now has changed to 'listen to the tape for an hour' as well. Thankfully I finally got someone, and he gave me the clue words so that I can order stuff on my cell phone. With Amazon I had twice a 'chat' box but both times a very patient person to guide me thought the process.

‘…a country that is now brazenly, and only, for the owners of corporations, against the public — against consumers, and against workers.’
A wsws.org article used the phraseology of ‘government of the oligarchy, by the oligarchy and for the oligarchy.’

The definition for insanity; doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.
NOBODY gets to automatically extract from any account (bank or card) except ME.
See that works just fine.
Apps, and corporations take our information and sell it to telemarketing thugs to bug our arse all day, and there are no accountability of such abuse.

Check out Open Office. It is as good as Microsoft Office used to be and it is completely free.
Will do, Thanks!
