All of their attempts are failing because the national debt is increasing by a trillion dollars every 100 days as they spend themselves into oblivion like the USSR did.
However, America's rulers allege that they won't accept a world in which their empire shrinks. The question that everyone else wonders about is whether the few individuals who control the U.S. Government (the billionaires who bought the winning politicians) will demand their Government to go all the way to WW3 for it. My guess is that they won't.
